PPS Parent, Paul Anthony, recently addressed the Portland School Board to highlight an innovative, home grown program at Benson that merges geometry and the shop classes, allowing the students to immediately answer their own question of “When am I ever going to use this?”.  Created by math teacher Amy Slaughter and electrical engineering teacher Tim Hryciw, Mr. Anthony explains how this program could only come from a in house team of talented teaching professionals, working together to innovate.
