According to the National Ocean Sciences Bowl (NOSB) website “The NOSB is an academic competition and program that addresses a national gap in environmental and earth sciences in public education by introducing high school students to and engaging them in ocean science, preparing them for ocean science-related and other STEM careers, and helping them become knowledgeable citizens and environmental stewards.” Regional competitions are held each February with winners moving on to a national competition in the Spring.
This year Benson squared off against Lake Oswego High School in the regional finals (held virtually). After 2 rounds the teams were tied up, but Benson prevailed by sweeping the tie-breaker round with a score of 8-0.
Congratulations to seniors Henry Senters, Gabriel Bliss, Tory Norton & Alex Millican and freshman Agatha Chang for their hard work and victory!
