Congratulations to Olivia Barzoloski, Sarinem Kasanmoesdiran Mejias, Zahra Faruqui, and Zayd Faruqui who became Benson’s Oregon Battle Of the Books State Champions this weekend. After making their way through a challenging field of competition, and answering the most obscure detailed question from 12 books. Such as “What was the exact balance of a specific character’s bank account?” They emerged victorious over Lakeridge High School. The competition concluded with an unprecedented four tiebreakers to clinch the 2024 state high school title. I’m incredibly proud of their hard work, determination, and the positive representation they brought to the competition as Benson Polytechnic High School students.
