We were recently contacted by a company that is under contract to reconstruct the entrance and viewing area at Wahkeena Falls, in the Gorge.  There was an existing stone wall that they were tasked with demolishing, which included a bronze plaque honoring Simon Benson.  After carefully removing the plaque, they noticed that the back of the plaque read “1977 Benson High”.  They noted that they “have grown quite fond of the old guy and are being careful that he is out back in his rightful position and his aged bronze patina [is] left untouched.”
